We provide dedicated Blackberry Enterprise Server support to a number of clients – some of these clients have their own in-house IT support teams, but in some cases they wanted specialist support for this part of their IT infrastructure.


This was the case for one client, a large education services supplier based in London but with locations all over the UK.  They were looking for a no-surprises, fixed-fee support contract which would cover their Blackberry infrastructure as well as supporting all of their blackberry device users. We arranged an all-inclusive Managed Support contract which covers all of these aspects. Included in the Managed Support contract is 24/7 monitoring.


Before we were able to pickup the support contract we needed to migrate their existing infrastructure from a limited user Blackberry Professional Software server to a full-blown Blackberry Enterprise Server so that they were able to add further users as part of the migration. This had to be done without any down-time for their users, many of whom were overseas.


We carried out a knife-edge migration, including installing the new server in their VMWare virtual infrastructure, configuring a new SQL server instance and then transparently moving all the users onto the new server. Total down-time was approximately 10-minutes during the database move, and all users were back-up and running automatically, without any need for re-activation.
